Laingsburg-Bath Girl's Soccer Team Wins Onsted Tournament

The girl's varsity soccer team once again prevailed at the Onsted Invitational on Saturday, May 2.  (The team has won the last four tournaments.)  This year's contestants were Adrian-A, Adrian-B, Jonesville, Laingsburg, Onsted, Quincy, Springport, and Stockbridge.

The championship game was against Division II opponent Adrian-A.  Laingsburg striker Eva Vrana put in the first goal of the game unassisted, after a steal, and then, added a second goal right before halftime on an assist by Carrie Whitney.  The final score was 3-0 after a goal by Brianna Fugate late in the second half.

Womens Open Division

Bath 4 v 4 Soccer Tournament, 2008. Women's open division consisted of high school seniors, and high school graduates. This group is the "Mia Hamm" generation of soccer players.  Most of these young ladies started in AYSO at U10.  Many of the girls on these teams at our tournament garnered All District, All Region and All State honors. Some have gone on and played in college.

Girls Pushing

Bath 4 v 4 Soccer Tournament, 2008.  These young girls are at the beginning of their soccer playing careers. Soccer is one sport that you can start at a very young age and continue to play well into adulthood.  Well maybe.

These young girls are illustrating the fact that they get very aggressive at a young age too.

The Bath Soccer Club Brain Trust

Bath 4 v 4 Soccer Tournament, 2008. These are two of the people that make this tournament happen year after year.  The Bath Soccer Club is a small group, but the Bath/Laingsburg soccer community is a much larger group.  Every summer many folks volunteer their time and sweat and come together on what seems to be the hottest day of the summer to help run this tournament.

Without the help of all of these people, including many people from Laingsburg, this would not be possible.

Thanks!

U12 Boys

Bath 4 v 4 Soccer Tournament, 2008. Boys at all ages are rough and aggressive.  However the development of skills seems to increasing at a very young age. The 2008 group of U12 boys teams were very skilled and very tough.  We hope to watch them grow year by year as they come back to Bath.

This division is not for the timid.  If you want some serious competition register in this division.  All of these kids have been playing for years, and many play in college.  So, if you are a junior or senior in high school or older, and you want a challenge, try this group.

Bath 4 v 4 Soccer Tournament, 2008. Tough way to score a point.  But, he did it. This picture is a good illustration of the skill level the older kids bring to our tournament.  There was at least one boy in this division who has played in everyone one of our tournaments for the last seven years.  This is great for us, because we have had the opportunity to watch him play for so many years.

Bath 4 v 4 Soccer Tournament, 2008. Open division action.  Another illustration of the skill level the Open Division teams bring to our tournament.  Although these kids were very intense the play was always very clean, fair, and fast. It's also great for the younger kids to watch the result of years of playing and practicing.

Bath 4 v 4 Soccer Tournament, 2008. They may be small, but the younger divisions are always the most intense. Some of the best matches happen with the younger kids as illustrated by these U10 boys fighting for control of the ball.
